Patient One Flora-Biotic™ Ultra is a ten-strain probiotic with a minimum 47.5 billion organisms per serving at encapsulation. Patient One’s proprietary high-CFU blend synergistically combines lactobacillus and bifidobacterium to support a more favorable balance of intestinal flora and healthy gastrointestinal (GI) and immune function.
Flora-Biotic Ultra supplies HardiStrain™ standardized bacteria cultures, produced with a proprietary system that promotes increased viability over an extended shelf life. Our freeze-dried probiotic cultures are shelf stable and provided in an acid-resistant, delayed release capsule to survive harsh stomach acids for effective delivery to the intestinal tract where the organisms can colonize and replicate.
Flora-Biotic Ultra supports the proliferation of beneficial microbiota and helps to inhibit the growth of unwanted bacteria, enhancing the body’s ability to resist undesirable microorganisms while aiding digestion. The bacteria have the ability to adhere to the intestinal epithelial cells and to implant in the intestines and positively modulate the mucosal immune response. Certain strains also promote a healthy vaginal pH.
As strain identity is essential to link a strain to a specific health effect, the probiotic strains in our formula are genetically identified using a sophisticated RiboPrinter® microbial characterization system.

Flora-Biotic Ultra provides eight lactobacilli species, including significant concentrations of well-documented supportive strains, L. rhamnosus, L. casei, L. acidophilus, and L. reuteri, as part of a comprehensive formula. Lactobacilli are the principal microbial group in the upper GI tract. Most lactobacilli used as probiotics are not native to the human GI tract, but only colonize the intestines when regularly consumed. Individuals consuming a typical. Western diet of highly processed foods may have lower levels of these important microorganisms than those consuming plant-based diets.
In addition to the lactobacilli, Flora-Biotic Ultra provides two complementary bifidobacteria, B. bifidum and B. longum. These organisms colonize the sterile digestive tract of newborns within days of birth via natural childbirth or breastfeeding and play a central role in GI and immune system development. Bifidobacteria metabolize carbohydrates that cannot be digested by the host or by microorganisms in the upper GI tract. Bifidobacteria numbers significantly decline with age and antibiotic use.
By competing for attachment to sites on the intestinal mucosal membrane, the lactobacilli and bifidobacteria supplied in Flora-Biotic Ultra may help inhibit attachment and overgrowth of undesirable bacteria and yeast and assist in the colonization of beneficial bacteria. Together they may also aid digestion and absorption of nutrients, stabilize bowel function, and produce a lactase enzyme that assists with the breakdown and optimal digestion of lactose.
